Church History

.
Trinity Lutheran Church, Stockton, CA was founded in 1882 by German Immigrants. Though we are not in the original location where the church was first established. Our church was based on Psalm 102:18, which tells us "Let this be recorded for generations to come, so that people yet unborn may praise the Lord."
We are an inner city Church located in the heart of downtown Stockton, in a building erected in 1923. We praise God for his blessings and do homage to our founding fathers as courageous pioneers. That is as it should be, for we know that in the years prior to 1882 there was no Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Stockton.

Our Beliefs

Our Church has a basis of the following beliefs:

God
We believe that the Father; Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Spirit together make up Trinity of our one true God.

Forgiveness
We trust in the forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life in heaven through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe this cannot be received through any act of our own but by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, as found in Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, so that no one can boast"..

 The Bible
We believe that the inerrant Word of God is without error and that it was inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Sacrament of Baptism & Holy Communion
We believe that God comes to us through water and the Word in Baptism and makes us a part of His Forever Family. We are then reminded of this forgiveness each time we confess our sins, receive forgiveness through Jesus' body and blood in Holy Communion.

Called
We believe that we are all called to share God's love and forgiveness with all whom we meet, no matter where and no matter with whom

Lutheran
We are a body of believers who are a part of a larger group of Christians in the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, which was founded on the truth of the Bible during the work of Martin Luther.

Our Affiliates
To stay close to those of inner city Stockton, we work with the Stockton Dream Team and support those who are homeless or are in need.
